That is probably the most absurd thing said in this forum.
Purgan, please do some basic research and you will see you are plain wrong. There is no way you will see your dream coming true. Govenment intervention when it comes to regulate the influx of foreign labor is everywhere. It is controlled. You just allow less or more people coming in and that is fair. If you allow the gates of a third world country to open for good and flood this with programmers to a point where you would be making $10/hour, nobody sane wants to get downgraded to that level. Foreigners with a funny accent like us would be competing for jobs. Probably employers would love and exploited people in the third world countries would love that, but I have to tell you things don't work that way.
Similar polls were conducted by Zogby, CNN, etc. I outlined other evidences there. Only individuals with an open mind can read between the lines though.

In my opinion, we need to have separate efforts for EB3 (now that EB3 I and EB3 ROW are in the same boat). If we have someone with leadership qualities and wants to use some social networking site for discussing EB3 issues and identifying approaches to solve the EB3 issues, there will be many EB3 folks willing to support the effort. Immivoice is just useless portal, it doesn't have open forums and the core folks here don't care for EB3. In fact, their lobbying efforts were behind USCIS changing the rule for spilling over the unused visa numbers to EB2 first. Just my 2 cents.

Just to remind ourself who we are. We are Highly skilled LEGAL immigrants. It not only means we are skillful but it also means we pay every damn tax which is out there. We pay for welfare. We pay for unemployed. We pay for pensioners. List goes on. We pay fees for every application processed by USCIS ( Labor, I-140,I-485,I-765,I-131 etc etc ). We pay rent. We buy cars. We buy houses. In short, we are nothing but GOLD to this economy.
However, this one department called USCIS is literally toying with us for yrs now as if we are slaves or we are obligated to them. We dont want anyone to do us any favour. We need justice.
Friends - I have self respect and i wasn't born chanting Green Card. I AM going to face them, confront them, demand them to provide justice, if not I want them to REFUND every penny i have paid so far. If this "I AM" becomes "WE", half the battle won. TOGETHER WE STAND, VICTORY/JUSTICE FOR ALL. If you are still hesitant, you made a bad choice of choosing option 2. Please go back to option 1.

"EB-2 India. This category is expected to remain unchanged or to move very slowly forward (by a week or so) in the short-term. This is mainly caused by the fact that many EB-3 India applicants (there are approximately 60,000 EB-3 India pending cases) are “porting” their priority dates into the EB-2 India category and are thus taking visa numbers.
EB2 India is slowwly becoming EB3 as thousands are porting from EB3 to EB2. Some of them are really worthy of EB2 and some of them are fradulent.
EB2 India applicants should wake up from their celebratio of a few months leap and get ready for slow movement or retro.
Guys wake up and fight to make the porting rules veryu strong if not stop porting. The rule should be if I140 for porting is denied then the applicatnt should loose his/her initial EB3 priority date also as he /she has indicated that he/she is no longer working in the position as described in EB3 labor. This will make sure that fradulent applicants cannot port from EB3 to EB2.

I've seen some posts here and people complaining that the GC process has a stranglehold on their lives.
I've been struggling for the GC for the simply reason that my wife can work. Now she's finally a qualified dentist and someone is sponsoring her visa. She could have worked in the last 5 years .. as an assistant and made money .. and done some work. But since I did not have an EAD for her .. that wasn't possible.
But our lives were not held ransom by the GC process. We travelled a lot .. pretty much have seen more of this country than even the natives :). Read, watched movies, socialised .. I think to a large extent we had a lot of fun. Agreed that the process is painful.. and you are held hostage.
But at the end of the day it is your life ..
Simple options are:
1. Wait .. since there is no other alternative
2. Push through IV activities .. so that you are involved
3. Check some other country ..
4. Go back to India. (not saying in a bad way)
At the end of the day .. peace of mind is more important.
The only reason 99% of the people are here is becuase 1$=44.5Rs.
Had it been 1:1.. I would be on the next flight back home .. enjoying family, friends, bhelpuri, cricket , 10000 festivals, neigbors trooping in .. etc etc .
There are always answers.
I undestand that the process is frustrating .. and I am also hugely frustrated .. battling lawyers, HR, the process itself. But what the hell .. life goes on. You meet people in your situation .. you see some of them getting through the process. There is always hope .. just look for it.

Wanted to know what the members here think of the probability of receiving RFE from USCIS to find out whether the applicant is still in a "same or similar" job when the time comes to adjudicate cases for for EB3 India.
I ask this because in a poll conducted in a separate thread, it seems the number of people waiting for their GCs are more with PDs before Dec 2004 than after that date.
When the dates become current again for these people, do you think USCIS will be sending RFEs to get the employment information for every single of them ? Is there is a percentage from the pending applications that they pick for RFE, assuming all applicants who changed employers DID NOT notify USCIS when they changed jobs OR is it completely up to the whims of the adjudicating officer to send an RFE ?

Hello All,
After being without job for almost 2 months, I am getting an offer for a short term project on 1099. Project is in my field and my job responsibilites are exactly same as what was approved on my labor. I am a Jul 07 filer.
Now, if in the next few months I get any Employement Verification RFE, what are my options? How can I answer the RFE while on 1099? What kind of documentation will I need? Has anyone successfully answered an EV RFE while on 1099?
OR
Is being on 1099 while on EAD a bad idea and I should stay away from it?
Related questions - I am not planning to file AC21 at this time as this is a short term contract and I don't want to 'notify' USCIS of any changes at this time. Few days ago, I saw this on TV - An American soldier died in Iraq leaving behind a 29 year old Polish wife and 6-month-old US citizen baby. Wife's paper (adjustment of status from K1->GC) was pending for 6 months or so with USCIS. When USCIS came to know about the death of that soldier (US citizen and I do not know how they came to know about it), they issued deportation order for his wife. Reason being, primary applicant is no more in this world so his dependent's application is null and void. She has been running from door to door with a baby in one arm and death letter of her husband with deportation order in the other arm. There is no one to listen to her. She lost her husband; she is going to lose her house and ability to stay in this country.
I absolutely hate to say this but Mehul, I think your wife will be better off in her home country. Please weight this option as well. My prayers are with you.

All the posts above are good coping measures, and some are used to actually deal with depressive symptoms. However they have missed the MOST important one! You used the term clinical depression. Please if you truly feel that way seek help, and seek it now, talk to your doctor or to a councilor. Though I won't go into details, I am speaking from personal experience. Sometimes things build up so much that we slip into such a state where we go beyond sadness and frustration and move to true depression.

People used to think it was "all in your head" and that if you really tried, you could "snap out of it" or just "get over it." But doctors now know that depression is not a weakness, and it's not something you can treat on your own. Depression is a medical disorder with a biological and chemical basis.
Sometimes a stressful life event triggers depression. Other times depression seems to occur spontaneously with no identifiable specific cause. Depression is much more than grieving or a bout of the blues.
Depression, true clinical depression, is nothing you can cure with a trip to somewhere else, or having people point out to you how much better you are off than this person or that one. My current employer is not willing to provide copy of I-140. I got EAD in 2nd week of October 2007. Can I change job using AC21 without copy of I-140 from current employer. What are the documents I need to change job using AC 21? Thanks in advance for your replies

One of my friend got "Card Production Ordered" email. He is EB2-I, PD Jan 2006, RD- Sep 30 2007, NSC.
Mine is Dec 2005 and still waiting. So what is going on with NSC? Are they also doing the same thing that TSC is doing? latest cases first?

Now, it has happened more than a few occassions that I've come across words that I had no clue about.... and this was one such moment. The dictionary bot came up with a blank face, expressing its helplessness. Looking at the results, I'm assuming you meant "generalizing".... clueless me couldn't figure that out sooner.. :)
Nothing like such amusing moments, thanks to IV, to bring cheer to an otherwise dark & gloomy day (well, mostly... in California a little overcast weather for about half a day can cause the much-feared Seasonal Affective Disorder (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/seasonal-affective-disorder/DS00195) (SAD) to some... :) )
