Imagine if someone has a cancer and he goes to a doctor and doctor tries all kinds of medicines and it does not work. He does get some relief in the pain though. So do you think the patient should ask for refund for all the money spent?
Likewise broken immigration system needs to be fixed and everyone tried hard for one year. We did get some relief from our pain due to 2 year EAD and namechecks memo. But the cure/bill did not pass. So do you think it means we should ask for a refund? And do you think anyone will even talk to us in DC next time if we act so cheap for the $5s some of us paid.
Why dont you have the courage to ask your lawyer for a refund because you dont have a greencard yet. Can you do it? If not then I think it is irratational to even think about it?

I am sure Core members are keeping track of their activities but zero output was quite disappointing. Some point of time it even makes me think that they were charging us for hours they spent in Starbucks.

CitiBank recently launched their Online Remit service. I used it for the first time last week and the exchange rate offered was best of all other services. Their fee is a flat $1 for any amount transferred. I did the same amount transfer at the same time with Citi as well as Remit2India and I got 16 Paise per $ more with Citi.
Keep in mind, every new business tries to offer best services in the beginning to attract customers and I suspect it will be same with Citi too. So their rates may be great now but could be whole different story in few months. They also disclose in the fine print that the exchange rate offered includes conversion commission.
If I were to order my preference on a permanent basis I would rank SBI, Citi, Remit2India, ICICI and then Western.

Unfortunately, incompetence and inefficiency can not be grounds of a lawsuit. :)
Lawsuits can only hold ground if you can prove that a particular action taken was wrong as per the rule on the books and it lead to monetory loss or physical pain.

My EAD and AP application was received June 19, 2009 at TSC. To my pleasant shocking & surprise USCIS approved mine and wife's application in 20 days and we received the card today.
We are happy with the speed and efficiency USCIS and wish they could do everything the same way. we received two year EAD but concerned as receiving a two year EAD indicates that it may take a while to get my PD (Dec 2005).

I had a problem with my wifes AP- they had not acted on it for 4 months I asked them to expedite it since we wanted to visit my father in law who was hospitalized for a medical condition- they did not respond to that request so I contacted my Senators office and asked if they could assist in this matter. They asked me for some medical documentation and faxed it to USCIS.. I noticed yesterday that her online status had changed to document mailed..we are still to get it but are optimistic that we should receive it soon.
In the absence of any compelling circumstances though I am not sure how it would work. but I would definitely recommend contacting your Senators office.

I have a long layover at New Delhi airport. I am reaching their at 8PM and my next flight in the morning at 7:30AM. Is there any accommodation facility within airport? Or Do i need to go to city? This is the first time, i am going through delhi airport. Any helpful comments are welcome. Thanks and appreciate your help.

I have future GC filed from Company X, the priority date is February 2006.
I am currently working for Company Y on H1B. This H1B will expire in April 2009. Company Y is also ready to file my GC and I would like to work with Company Y till by future GC is approved, my question is if I have already filed for 485, EAD and AP through Company X, scenario will it be advisable to file another labour and I-140 through Company Y now?
What could be the implications?
It is advisable if work at Y is significantly different than what is in LC filed at X. There is no other negative impact of that, other than filing fees. If Y is willing to file for your LC go for it. That way you are not restricted by rules of AC21. There is no limit on how many I-140 or LC's you can have.

They have been talking about this lawsuit for a long time now. I wonder when they will actually file it. Though they claim that they will file it this week, I would trust them only when they actually do file the lawsuit.:D

I work for US university on H1B. Based on my knowledge the following are valid points.
- There is no deadline or quota for H1B visa's for these non-profit orgs.
- You can transfer from F1, OPT to H1B (I did the same).
- If you are being paid by a for-profit org then you ARE SUBJECT TO QUOTA.
So, to answer your question (original poster), you will be subject to quota if you are working for a consulting firm (it does not matter if your assignment is at a non-profit org or not).
So, if you want to get a H1B visa try to get in directly with non-profit organization.

Even as per Indian courts, the contract is valid only if mutually enforceable, which means that the company also needs to give you a two month's notice in case of termination.
Though there is very little risk, why burn the bridges? Be nice and negotiate a mutually agreed exit ... put in some extra hours if needed to transfer the knowledge or to answer any questions to your current job later on. I doubt if your current manager will turn down such an arrangement whereby you help him/her out when needed over a course of next two months...
For your career, the network is more important than the immediate monetary benefits, just my two cents... :)
